Rx Aid Specialists That Work for YOU

At the beginning of your experience with Rx Aid you will be assigned to a specialist. Our specialists are very knowledgeable and can answer any questions you have. Specialists will record all your information; assist you in filling out your applications for the proper pharmaceutical companies, as well as ensuring your continued enrollment in the program.

One-Time Application Process

Rx Aid has defined a simple painless process to file your applications quickly and correctly. Simply gather the required information from our website, once you have pre-qualified and then apply online or over the phone with the help of an Rx Aid specialist.

Easy to Apply for One or Multiple Prescriptions

You can easily apply for multiple prescriptions from various pharmaceutical companies. Simply request the proper medications with your application. The information for your Rx Aid application only needs to be filled out once, it will then be applied to the proper pharmaceutical companies to assure they send the correct medication.

Enrollment Management

Rx Aid keeps your applications on file and renews them when needed, to ensure there are no “gaps” in your enrollment with your prescription assistance program. Simply apply for the correct medications with the submission of your Rx Aid application, and allow us to take care of the rest.

Our Mission

Our mission at Rx Aid is to increase awareness of enrollment in existing Patient Assistance Programs that are offered by the pharmaceutical companies.

These companies have developed programs to assist the uninsured and those that cannot afford their medications. However, few people are informed of these programs and find the process to be confusing and prohibitive. Consider it done with Rx Aid!

Why Rx Aid?

Rx Aid was started for one simple reason…to help people! America is the most blessed nation the world has ever known; yet, millions of its citizens are afforded no healthcare coverage and even more are denied prescription medication which would dramatically improve the quality of their lives. In the greatest nation the world has ever known, young and old alike are unable to obtain prescription drugs because of their lack of money. Rx Aid believes that money should not be a limiting factor and does all that it can to bring the available Prescription Assistance Programs to the ‘doorsteps’ of those in need! The service provided by Rx Aid is driven by an intense passion to help people. Rx Aid believes that everybody is somebody and nobody should be denied healthcare coverage or prescription medication because of ‘no’ money! This great nation should understand that we never know who we are helping. Maybe it is a grandparent; maybe it is a parent; maybe it is a child that may one day ‘change’ the world!

Many years ago a wealthy English family once invited friends to spend some time at their country estate. Tragedy nearly occurred on the first day. While swimming, one of the children got into deep water and the helpless victim. The youngster rescued was Winston Churchill. His parents, deeply grateful to the gardener, asked what they could do to reward him. He hesitated, and then said, “I wish my son could go to college someday and become a doctor.” “We’ll pay his way,” replied Churchill’s parents.

Years later when Sir Winston Churchill was Prime Minister of England, he was stricken with pneumonia. Greatly concerned, the King of England summoned the best physician who could be found to the bedside of the ill leader. That doctor was Sir Alexander Fleming, the developer of penicillin. He was also the son of the gardener who had saved Winston from drowning as a boy. Sir Winston Churchill recovered, in great part because of Dr. Fleming!

This is not England and we are not healing Prime Ministers! This is America and we should be helping each and every citizen because someday that someone we help save may help save the world! We never know who we are helping! Therefore, help must be extended to all! This is the mission of Rx Aid. Thank you.

RxAssist is a pharmaceutical access information center created by Volunteers in Health Care (VIH), a national resource center for safety net organizations. VIH operates out of the Brown University Center for Primary Care and Prevention, based at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island, a Brown Medical School teaching and research facility located in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.

VIH was established in 1997 originally to assist and connect organizations across the country using volunteer clinicians to deliver health care to the uninsured. VIH quickly realized that pharmaceutical access is a key problem. Safety net organizations were struggling to meet their patients’ medication needs; applying to the pharmaceutical companies’ patient assistance programs was cumbersome and purchasing medication was expensive. As the years progressed, with each year bringing rising costs of medications, safety net health care providers were stuck with a dilemma: how could their patients receive the highest quality of care if they couldn’t purchase medicine?

In 1999, with input from organizations across the country, VIH launched our website, RxAssist.org. RxAssist.org streamlines the application process for the pharmaceutical industry’s patient assistance programs. Combined with our staff’s extensive knowledge of pharmaceutical access issues and the creation of technical assistance tools, VIH and RxAssist are nationally recognized as expert resources for safety net organizations, policymakers, clinicians and the media.

Through RxAssist.org, Volunteers in Health Care offers:

• A comprehensive database of pharmaceutical company patient assistance programs. RxAssist was the first website to make application forms available online
• Extensive resources on using and understanding pharmaceutical company patient assistance programs
• Materials and information tailored to providers and consumers on medication access, including fact sheets, FAQs and “how to” guides
• Connections to programs and professionals across the country who are wrestling with issues of medication access, including a dynamic listserv
• Staff who are able to assist organizations starting or operating programs providing medication or pharmacy assistance
• Staff who are able to provide a national perspective on pharmaceutical access issues and strategies
