Lions are an international network of 1.3 million men and women in 202 countries and geographic areas who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world.

The Union Lions Club provides refurbished hearing aids and eyeglasses to qualifying individuals. Contact Lions Club members for more information and application.

Additionally the ULC provides speakers and support for diabetes.

Description:

The Union County Cancer Service is a local organization affiliated with the United Way of the Piedmont.  The majority of funding comes from the United Way with other funds coming from grants, matching gifts, memorials and individual donations.

The mission of the Union County Cancer Service is to serve the people of Union County without regard to race, religion, color, creed, economic or social status.  It is our aim to treat each person with compassion and dignity and to offer moral support as well as tangible services.

Referrals are received from physicians, clinics, hospitals, social service agencies, pharmacies, churches and others.

Once an application has been received and the diagnosis confirmed by an attending physician, services are offered on an as-needed/funds available basis.

Services

Financial assistance is available to purchase medicine, medical supplies such as colostomy and other ostomy supplies, prosthetics, liquid nutrition, and to assist with gasoline for transportation for out-of-town treatment.

Loan closet provides hospital bed, bedside commodes, shower chairs, wheelchairs, and walkers.

Give away items include wigs, bed linens, linen savers and turbans.
